Le Festival du Film Français des Alliances Françaises en Australie est devenu au fil des ans un évènement majeur dans le mouvement de rencontre et de découverte réciproque entre deux peuples et deux cultures.

Chaque année, une sélection des films les plus récents permet de sentir le mouvement contemporain de création en France, et d'apprécier les regards que l'on y porte depuis l'Australie.

Organisé par l'Alliance Française et l'Ambassade de France en Australie, le Festival a proposé en 2006 un total de 21 films dans six villes d'Australie et a établi un nouveau record d'entrées (65.000).

En 2007, pour sa dix-huitième édition, il est encore plus ambitieux. 26 films de très grande qualité, y compris 15 des 20 plus grands succès récents du cinéma français, seront présentés.

Je souhaite beaucoup de plaisir, de bonheur et de rêve à tous les spectateurs du Festival du Film Français des Alliances Françaises en Australie, dont l'édition 2007 connaîtra sans nul doute un succès sans précédent.

On behalf of the Federation des Alliances en Australie and in the same spirit of reciprocity as espoused by S. E.M L’Ambassadeur, I want to yet again welcome the Alliance française French Film Festival in Australia.

Over the years it has become a much anticipated and greatly valued celebration on the cultural calendar of every major city in this country.

I know that the process of selection of the chosen films and their timely distribution from France and across the vast distances within Australia involves a great number of highly skilful and dedicated film and technical experts. I thank each and every one of them and am acutely aware of their problems and anxieties in their performance of their tasks.

In that vein I would also like to recognise the work of the French Embassy in Australia and our major sponsors such as Peugeot & DHL and our exhibitor the Palace Cinemas for their vital contributions.

At the same time I am sure, with the films selected for this year that the efforts of all these people will be rewarded by the acclaim given right across Australia to this year’s Festival.
