Writer, director and actor Emmanuel Mouret stamps his own personal take on contemporary romance and creates a timeless and irresistible comedy of manners about friends and lovers in CHANGE OF ADDRESS.
David (Mouret), a timid and awkward yet appealing musician, has recently arrived from the provinces. After meeting ditzy Anne (blonde bombshell discovery Frédérique Bel) he’s soon sharing her apartment and - occasionally - her bed, despite her professed attraction to another man whose name she can’t recall. They console, advise, and encourage each other with their various romantic entanglements, especially David’s obsession with his young student, Julia (played by Little Jerusalem’s Fanny Valette), the beautiful, taciturn daughter of a rich woman (Ariane Ascaride).
The delightfully Allen-esque CHANGE OF ADDRESS uses blithely witty dialogue and a tight script to invite the audience into the private lives of young lovers, and Mouret masterfully juggles his small, shining cast of unmistakable and hilarious characters. This offbeat and good-humoured comedy consistently surprises: from its rapid-fire comic timing, to the charmingly surreal string of sexual and romantic frustrations it describes.
