The breezy, crowd-pleasing comedy THOSE HAPPY DAYS is a funny, poignant and entertaining romp through a French summer camp.
It’s 1992, and Vincent Rousseau (the versatile Jean-Paul Rouve) is about to oversee his first camp. On the Paris platform where parents are anxiously handing over their precious darlings, ages 7 to 13, Vincent also meets the group of twenty-somethings who will serve as camp leaders. So begins a summer like many others, with both age-groups doing a little growing up: the first crushes, the first smokes, the first parties, merciless visits to museums, nights spent under the starred sky and the obligatory sports contests. Just as competitive - though not part of the official program - is the pursuit of possible bed partners. These three weeks will prove far livelier than expected…
Writer-directors Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache (Just Friends) deliver a sharply written and surprisingly evocative ode to the joys and perils of summer fun. Anybody who’s thinking of having children, or sending the ones the have to camps, may like to reconsider! The ensemble cast of rising stars, including Look At Me’s Marilou Berry, is terrific and audiences are guaranteed to exit the cinema with a smile.
